Young Members Leaders & Hosts

The YM group is here to maximize the AMC experience for 20 and 30-somethings (and adults of all ages who still think they're 20 or 30-something). Activities and social events are organized and attended by people like you, geared for the "younger" crowd.
(Leaders and Hosts: We welcome including you here. You may also include a gallery. Contact the Young Members Co-Chairs & Webmaster.)

Some of the Young Members Leaders

Ann Hudnall Young Members Co-Chair
Ann Hudnall
is a native Virginian who found herself in the Great White North just 1 year ago. Since then she has discovered a love of hiking and the mountains and is almost done with her first round of the NH 48 4ks. She is a veterinary technician by day and enjoys most anything fall, hiking, feline, or chocolate related. She recently accepted the role as Co-chair for the NH Young Members in the hopes of getting herself and others more involved in this beautiful state. She is looking forward to the coming year and to getting more all-weather hiking under her belt.

Chris Higgins Young members leader candidate, Portsmouth Social Host
Chris Higgins
was born and raised in the Mt Washington Valley and currently resides in Portsmouth. He grew up doing hikes with his family. When he moved to coastal NH, he then became a serial peakbagger. He currently holds the NH 48 x 2, NE 67, and NEHH. He also enjoys doing all sorts of other random hikes and exploring new areas.

Zealand Summit
Last of Eric's Winter 48
March 10, 2008
Eric Savage
Enjoys exploring the woods, especially the mountains of New Hampshire, and loves to share his knowledge and enthusiasm with others. He believes that good company multiplies the pleasure of a great adventure. He has been a trip leader since 2000 and an instructor at the Cardigan workshops since 2007. He has been NH Chapter Chair and a Young Member Co-chair, and is still the Chair of the Four Thousand Footer Committee. He is a pathological peak-bagger, always up for getting to the high point of anything, even a local park, regardless of whether there's a trail involved or not.

Jamie Gillon Young Members Group Co-Chair; Hike Leader; Manchester Social Host
Jamie Gillon
has lived in Southern NH for over ten years. He currently chairs the Young Members’ Group, leads hikes for Young Members, Trails and Excursion Groups, maintains an adopted trail, and also hosts social events. Jamie has extensive hiking experience in New England, completing the NH and VT 4000 footers, and has also hiked in the Western and Southern United States. He also enjoys a variety of other outdoor and fitness related activities including bicycling, kayaking, lifting weights and practicing yoga. “I love helping people get outdoors, connect with others, and maybe even challenge themselves a bit. I am really excited to help the Young Members’ Group continue to thrive.”

Kara LaSalle Excursions Leader Candidate, Young Members Lakes Region Social Host
Kara LaSalle
was raised in NH and resides in the Lakes Region. A lifelong hiker Kara is happiest on the trails with her Boston Terriers. In addition to hosting Lakes Region social events, Kara is an Excursions Leader Candidate, President of Fusion, and is on the Board of the NH Humane Society. Kara is the Real Estate Development Project Manager at Lakes Region Community Developers and an Assistant Field Hockey Coach at Plymouth State University.

Michelle Beadle Young Members Upper Valley Social Host, Ski Leader, Mountaineering Leader Candidate
Michelle Beadle
is a life-long New Hampshire resident, who feels lucky to live in one of the nicest places on Earth! She spent most of her life in the Lakes Region, but has recently relocated to the Upper Valley. Her main interests with the AMC lie with two different committees. She is working towards becoming a leader with the Mountaineering committee, where she enjoys sport climbing, traditional climbing, and bouldering. She has climbed all over New England and New York. A life-long skier, Michelle recently made the transition to back country and is finishing up the leader training for the Ski committee. She enjoys both cross country skiing and down mountain skiing on her alpine touring set up. In addition to skiing and climbing, Michelle also enjoys hiking and recently completed her NH 48 4,000 footer list and has completed several hikes in the Rocky Mountains. She is an avid equestrian and marathoner as well. While she enjoys traveling to new places, her favorite places for outdoor adventuring are those secret spots minutes from home that few people know about. Michelle enjoys sharing the beauty of her home state with other outdoor enthusiasts.

Mt. Monadnock, August, 2013
Wayne Goertel
In Wayne's hometown, the tallest "hill" was the man-made dike along a river. Relocating to New Hampshire provided him with many opportunities for hiking and skiing, which instilled a greater sense of advocacy for preserving the natural outdoors. An AMC volunteer since 2007, Wayne has served as NH Chapter Chair (2013-2015), Vice Chair (2011-2013), and a Young Member's committee Co-Chair (2009-2011). He is a Class 1 (four season) hike leader, and instructor at the NH Chapter Cardigan Winter and Spring Schools.
